Criteria:
The Army Distinguished Service Cross Medal (DSC) is a U.S. Army decoration given for extreme gallantry and risk of life in actual combat with an armed enemy force. Operations which merit the DSC need to be of such a high degree to be above those mandatory for all other U.S. combat decorations but not meeting the criteria for the Medal of Honor. The DSC is equivalent to the Navy Cross (Navy and Marine Corps) and the Air Force Cross (Air Force). The DSC was first established and awarded during World War I. In accession, a number of awards were delegated for actions preceding World War I. In many cases, these were to soldiers who had acquired a Certificate of merit for gallantry which, at the time, was the only other honor beyond the Medal of Honor the Army could give. Others were delayed acknowledgement of actions in the Philippines, on the Mexican Border and during the Boxer Rebellion. This decoration should not be mistaken for the Distinguished Service Medal, which distinguishes meritorious service to the government of the U.S. (as a senior military officer or government official) rather than individual acts of bravery (as a member of the U.S. Army).

The legacy of the U.S. Armed Forces veterans is highly protected and it is essential to the mission of USAMM. These awards are solely granted to military personnel for exceptional valor and heroism in combat and fall just short of the Medal of Honor. These awards are the following:1. While these items are available to order through the website, we have a formal verification process that must take place before the awards are shipped. We also reserve the right to not ship them at all if proper verification cannot be provided. We take it as our responsibility to highly scrutinize any orders placed in our system for these particular awards before shipment. We have an investigative process that consists of searching national databases that list legitimate recipients. Not appearing in those databases will require submission of an official DD-214 or similar official paperwork authenticating the individual's receipt of the award.

99% of orders ship within 24 business hours, but please allow up to 2 business days for in-stock products to be packaged and shipped.
- Online orders requiring next-day delivery must be placed by 11:00 a.m. (CST). After 11:00 a.m. please call us at 1-877-653-9577 to ensure that we can ship your order out on-time. NOTE: Please call us for all orders placed on Mondays requiring next-day delivery.
- Federal Express orders do not require a signature upon delivery. If you need us to add the signature requirement, please leave a note in your order comments or call us at 1-877-653-9577.
- If an item is temporarily out of stock you will be notified via email and given an estimated delivery time. Backordered items will be shipped separately from the original order via USPS First Class Mail. Expedited shipping for backordered items is available upon customer request.
- We cannot guarantee delivery times to APO/FPO addresses. Shipments to APO/FPOs are affected by the logistical needs of particular theaters of operation. Please consult the USPS or unit mail rooms for information about delivery times to specific APO/FPO addresses. NOTE: Choosing an expedited shipping option for an APO/FPO address does not ensure faster delivery.
- We cannot accept C.O.D. orders or deliveries.
Return Policy:
All items sold on USAMM are manufactured to the highest standards and we feel the same way about customer service. If you feel the need to return or exchange an item based on the guidelines below, we will gladly make it happen.
- Merchandise must be in its original condition.
- Merchandise can be returned for a full refund within four months of order date.
- After four months from order date merchandise can only be returned for exchange or store credit.
- After one year from order date no merchandise returns will be accepted.
- Refunds will be issued to the original credit card.
- Exchanges can be made for the same item or for items of equal or lesser value.
- Any additional costs not covered in the exchange will require settlement by credit card before shipment.
- Exchanges are subject to availability. A refund will be processed if the product is unavailable.
- You must include a return address. For the safety of our employees, any package received without a return address on the outside of the package will be destroyed, and USAMM will not replace the contents of the package.
- Please be aware, returned bulk orders of more than $1,000 will be subject to a 5% restocking fee.
NOTE: Special orders such as ribbon and medal mounting will be accepted for returns on a case by case basis. Ribbons and medals with attachments will not be accepted for return unless a mounting error was made.
Return Procedures:
- Document return reason(s) on the original packing slip that came with the order. (If you don't have your original packing slip, just include a note letting us know why you're returning the product. Please include the original order number, purchaser name, address, and telephone number.)
