While service in a combat zone is not necessary, their service must be directly related to the combat effort. Subsequent awards of the citation are displayed by wearing an Oak Leaf Cluster on the service ribbon.

- I earned the JMUA while in the US Navy, but subsequently transferred to the Army National Guard. When wearing my Army uniform, do I wear this award with the original Navy frame or the Army frame? I cannot find guidance in the regs. Thank you!
- Great question! You would wear this awards on your right side with the rest of your unit awards. It will have the larger, Army-style frame.
