Criteria: The Bronze Star Device falls under the larger category of service stars, also known as campaign stars, engagement stars or battle stars. A service star is a U.S. military decoration attachment denoting participation in military campaigns as well as multiple awards of the same decoration. These devices are typically issued for campaign medals, service medals, ribbon awards, and particular military badges. Service stars are different from award stars, which are issued for multiple awards of meritorious and combat decorations. The military issues bronze and silver service stars; a silver being issued in lieu of five bronze stars.
• Campaign Star: For example, on a campaign medal. six campaigns served would be represented by one silver and one bronze service star. "I requested a new set of min-ribbons and a nine ribbon rack, including a Cold War Victory ribbon to rebuild my ribbon rack, which would now include an Agent Orange ribbon. Both of these are commenoratives and would not be worn on the uniform of an active duty member of the military. However, since I am no longer in active service (for almost 53 years) I decided that my ribbon rack should reflect both my service (in a squadron training B-52 crews to deliver nuclear weapons) and my service related disability (cancer as a result of exposure to AO during Vietnam). I have ordered a few times from USAMM and am very pleased with my purchases, timely arrival and communication with staff. I would recommend them to any active or retired service member."

- How do these attach to the ribbon?
- All devices on the site should come with two prongs on the back, which poke through the ribbon and are secured in the back. We also carry devices without the prongs, but they are not available on the site. To get those, you can add all the devices to your shopping cart and leave a note in the Special Instructions box on the shopping cart page requesting 'prongless devices.'
