Iraq Campaign Anodized Miniature Medal

Iraq Campaign Anodized Miniature Medal

The Iraq Campaign Medal (ICM) is a decoration presented by the United States Armed Forces to personnel who served within Iraq or surrounding waters between March 19, 2003 to a date yet to be determined. To be eligible, service members must have served at least 30 consecutive or 60 cumulative days within the Iraqi borders. Service time may be waived when a service member has required medical evacuation after having been wounded in battle, has served in aircrew flights that totaled more than 30 days of duty in Iraqi airspace or posthumously for any service member who dies from combat or non-combat wounds while in the line of duty.

For each authorized campaign that a service member participates in, a bronze Service Star is awarded and worn on the Campaign Medal. Only one day of duty on a campaign is required to be awarded a service star. The designated Campaigns are as follows:

Liberation of Iraq - March 19th, 2003 to May 1st, 2003

Transition of Iraq - May 2nd, 2003 to June 28th, 2004

Iraqi Governance - June 29th, 2004 to December 15th, 2005

National Resolution - December 16th, 2005 to January 9th, 2007

Iraqi Surge - January 10th, 2007 to December 31st, 2008

Iraqi Sovereignty - January 1st, 2009 to August 31st, 2010

New Dawn - September 1st, 2010 - to a date to be determined.

The Arrowhead device may be awarded with the medal to eligible recipients. This medal replaces the Global War on Terrorism Medal (GWOTEM) awarded prior to June of 2005 for Service in Iraq. Recipients of the latter may choose to exchange their GWOTEM for the newer model.
