The Joint Meritorious Unit Award (JMUA) is an award presented to units of the United States Armed Forces presented for exceptional meritorious service within a joint operation. Created in June of 1981 the award was made retroactive to January 23rd, 1979. It is considered the organizational equivalent to the Defense Superior Service Medal.

- I earned the JMUA while in the US Navy, but subsequently transferred to the Army National Guard. When wearing my Army uniform, do I wear this award with the original Navy frame or the Army frame? I cannot find guidance in the regs. Thank you!
- Great question! You would wear this awards on your right side with the rest of your unit awards. It will have the larger, Army-style frame.
