Description

Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal Lapel Pin

This lapel pin represents the Selected Marine Corps Reserve (SMCR) Medal, established on February 19, 1939. It recognizes members of the Marine Corps Reserve who have maintained outstanding performance and conduct, requiring at least 90% attendance at scheduled drills over three consecutive years (previously four years and 80% attendance under earlier eligibility rules dating back to 1925). Originally called the Fleet Marine Reserve Medal, it was later redesignated the Organized Marine Corps Reserve Medal, and finally took its current name in 1984 under Commandant General Paul X. Kelley.

The ribbon's design carries symbolic meaning: red, white, and blue edge stripes represent the national colors, while the central red and gold stripes reflect the colors of the Marine Corps. Successive awards are denoted by bronze or silver service stars.

Sized for everyday wear, this pin lets veterans display this recognition on a suit lapel or jacket. It's built for accurate detail and lasting durability.
