The Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) is a decoration presented by the United States Armed Forces to recognize superior and exceptional non-combat service that does not meet the caliber of the Legion of Merit Medal. As of September 11, 2001, this award may also be issued for outstanding service in specific combat theater. The majority of recipients are field grade officers, senior warrant officers, senior non-commissioned officers and foreign military personnel in the ranks of O-6 and below. Subsequent awards are denoted by bronze oak leafs for Army and Air Force members, and gold stars for Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard members.

Didn't Work As Expected
"Products were as shown, and shipped quickly. The only issue was with the oak leaf cluster. It was purchased to add to a miniature medal, which already had two original clusters. The one I received was about half the size of the two that were on the medal, so I couldn't use this one, since it would not look good. The two that were on the medal were smaller than the ribbon sized oak leaf clusters, so the size I needed was in between the one I purchased and the ribbon size. I called to see if that size was available, but they didn't have any that would fit my medal. The gal suggested I could send the medal and have them change it so all three would be the same size, or look elsewhere. I decided to just leave the two original ones on the medal and not try to change it, since it would then not be in sinc with the other medals on the rack. Not that it mattered, but I wasn't even offered a refund. The other items purchased met my needs nicely."
