Army Staff Identification Badge - Miniature
United States Army Miniature Staff Identification Badge
Criteria: Awarded to U.S. Army personnel who have served one year as members of the Army General Staff. Authorized for both officers and enlisted personnel, the staff identification badge is considered a permanent decoration for wear subsequent to service with the General Staff. First proposed in 1931 by General Douglas MacArthur, the decoration became authorized by the United States War Department in 1933. The appearance of the badge has remained unchanged since it was first created, however, the name of the decoration was changed in 1982 from the "Army General Staff Identification Badge" to the "Army Staff Identification Badge." The Army Staff Identification Badge is worn centered on the right breast pocket. The Army Staff Identification Badge can be awarded in lapel pin form to civilians (Government Service 11 and above) who serve with the Army General Staff.
