The NATO Article 5 Active Endeavour Medal is a decoration presented to recognize personnel who have participated in the NATO led operation in the international waters of the Mediterranean Sea or airspace following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. To be eligible, members must have been part of the NATO STANAVFORMED or STANAVFORLANT, which are elements of the Standing Naval Force (SBF). Members must have served for 30 consecutive or non-consecutive days from October 26, 2001 to a yet to be determined date. The medal may be presented with an Article 5 clap, however the medal and clasp are not authorized to be worn together by the U.S. military.
