Prisoner of War Medal
The Prisoner of War (POW) Medal is a decoration presented by the United States Armed Forces to recognize members of the U.S. military who have been made prisoner or held captive by opposing forces after April 5, 1917. To be eligible, the individual must have demonstrated upstanding character while in captivity. Subsequent decorations the Prisoner of War Medal are denoted by Silver Stars worn as attachments on the service medal.
