The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (VCM, VNCM) was a decoration presented by South Vietnam to recognize members of allied forces who served in the Vietnam War for a period of at least six months. Service members who were wounded, captured or killed in action were automatically awarded the medal regardless of time served. The "1960 Bar" device is given with the medal and was meant to indicate the years the war was fought from beginning to end. Since the Republic of Vietnam was conquered by North Vietnam in 1975, the government no longer existed and no end date was ever made for the bar.

Great quality and price

"The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal was given to US troops in appreciation for service to their country. I was in Vietnam in '68 but never received this metal even though it was listed on my DD214. The fact is, other awards were never given to me either. I contacted my US Representative to see about getting them now, 58 years later. His office was able to get me everything but the Vietnam Campaign Medal. That was given out by the South Vietnam government. The only way to get one now is through after market companies. I searched all venders, and concluded the best looking and price came from USAMM! What I have now is extremely good looking and durable (not a piece of junk). I am convinced I made the correct decision."
