United States Army 109th Armor Regiment Unit Crest (Unleashed Lightning)

Criteria: This is the unit crest of the 109th Armor Regiment. Also called distinctive unit insignia, the crest features the unit motto, "Unleashed Lightning," on the bottom two scrolls. The main design is a shield with alternating bars of color, officially gold and green, but represented on the physical crests as gold and black. Atop the shield are two blue circles, showing overseas service, with a gold sun in one and a gold fleur-de-lis in the other. The gold sun represents the unit's service in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II and the gold fleur-de-lis represents the unit's service in France during Word War I.
