Criteria:

The Army Commanders Award for Civilian Service Medal is given to employees of the U.S. Army that have established a pattern of excellence, usually recognized through the previous receipt of one or more honorary or monetary performance awards. Any commander (Colonel and above) or civilian equivalent may approve this award. Nominations express service or achievement of a lesser degree than recognized by the Superior Civilian Service Award. Eligibility is established by assessing contributions against the following example levels of achievement:

•Achieved supervisory or non-supervisory duties in an outstanding manner, setting an example of achievement for others to follow.

•Demonstrated initiative and aptitude in constructing new or improved equipment, work methods and procedures; conceiving inventions that generate a considerable amount of savings in manpower, time, space, materials, or other items of expense; or items that better health or safety of the workforce.

•Displayed leadership in performing assigned duties that resulted in advanced productivity of the unit.

•Rendered professional or public relations service that established favorable publicity in the local area.

•Demonstrated courage or proficiency in an emergency while completing assigned duties resulting in benefit to the Government of its personnel.
